Dr. Dawn's Life

Background:

I have completed 20 years of full time ministry, serving as an Assisting Minister (same as Associate Pastor) for 7 years with a church in Minneapolis, MN. I have served 43 years in the teaching ministry of the church with children, youth, and adult ministries. I served 8 years at my current church as Christian Education Director/Secretary/Administrator of the church. I currently serve at a seminary.

Ashland Theological Seminary:

My title is Dean of Intensive, Online, and Off-Site Learning; Assistant Professor of Christian Formation and Leadership. While serving as Dean of these areas, I also teach in the Doctor of Ministry program, teach Christian Formation courses (FTF and online), and work with Degree and Student Learning Outcomes for seminary assessment.

Personal Life:

I like to read, write, and research for the field of Christian Education and Leadership. My husband is Dr. Russell Morton, who serves as professional fellow in the Biblical Studies department. We have been married more than 16 years. We have three cats who are orange tabbies. We have my father-in-law living with us. His name is Gene and is 94, served in WWII as a Navy Man. My other hobbies are: Genealogy, British Mysteries, and Operation Christmas Child. We attend Ontario Free Methodist Church, Mansfield, Ohio. My husband is the Visitation Pastor and I assist him with prayer ministry and remembering those suffering with cards of encouragement.

Education:

BA in Bible and Theology at Mt Vernon Bible College (Foursquare); MACE - Masters of Christian Education at Ashland Theological Seminary; and EdD - Doctor of Education in Leadership at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (research degree). My expertise is Christian Education, Educational Psychology and Development, Leadership, Social Science Research which includes Likert scales, research methods, and designing instruments for DMin projects, and Online Education. I also completed an Online Teaching Ceritificate from United Theological Seminary, Dayton, OH, June 2015. 

 



 

 

Operation Christmas Child

 

I currently serve as the Area Team Coordinator for Operation Christmas Child in Central Ohio, overseeing six counties. I believe in evangelism of children and families, along with bringing hope to others, and bringing joy to children around the world!
